I've been to the gym, used to be a runner, taken aerial, yoga, contortion and even participated in roller derby. (Well, this is a different spin on your normal posts Hillary)

Give me a moment here, it is, but it won't be completely.

Water is important (I'd give you stats and percentages, but I'm far from an expert)

And all those above-mentioned classes or activities have one thing in common.

They require you to move your body, whether it's basic stretching, learning the splits, to hanging in the ceiling in silks, running a 5k, or skating as fast and as hard as you can. To do these things to the best of your ability, as I have been told OVER and OVER and OVER again, you need proper nutrition, and you need, you guessed it, to be hydrated.

And your body will YELL at you if you haven't had enough water. Just when you think you're about to get perfect form in your king pigeon pose and BOOM! the muscle cramp of muscle cramps hits you and leaves you gracelessly rolling on the floor.

I'm not saying I've been there... but well, yeah, I am.

But more importantly than water is for your body how often do we think about spiritual hydration?

I know when don't go to church my weeks are longer, harder and I'm less equipped to deal with common life stressors.

When I don't read my bible as often, I'm meaner, more irritable and overall, not a fun person to be around.

And even greater than my comparing my bodily need for water, to my spiritual need for God. The body actually refers to Jesus as the Living Water.

John 4:14 But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Isaiah 12:3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

Your body can't live without water; you will die of dehydration before you die of starvation.

But your soul can't live at all without God.

You might not get a physical muscle cramp, but there may be a cramp in your attitude.

Signs you might be spiritually dehydrated

  1. Easily irritable

  2. Quick to anger

  3. Lack of self-control

  4. Making unwise decisions

If you can't make it to church every Sunday, or you haven't been able to prioritize reading your Bible on a solid schedule (I'm still working on that), here are some other ways to incorporate uplifting content in your life.

  1. Listen to church online! So many good churches have a YouTube channel these days!!!

  2. Listen to Christian music. Theres something for everyone from rock to country, pop, alt, and punk. All with a God spin!

  3. Christian Podcasts.

  4. Devotionals.

  5. Time with your Christian friends! Fellowship is key!

Start small and grow. That's all any of us can do.

Stay hydrated friends!
